Evaluating Methods to Drive Decarbonization

These examples set a strong precedent for future projects and contribute to the overall goal of reducing the built environment's climate impact and achieving the region’s decarbonization objectives. The catalog evaluates the climate impacts and material usage of buildings, providing insights into potential decarbonization strategies. It also analyzes the assessment methods used in the participating countries and their influence on carbon impact results.

Project team

The Ministry of Environment in Finland, SWECO Denmark and BUILD – Department of the Built Environment at Aalborg University have been responsible for collecting a variety of low carbon construction projects presented in this catalogue.

The project is part of an acceleration effort that aims to speed up the decarbonization of the building and construction sector, addressing the challenges posed by limited resources and the lack of best practice examples that hinder progress toward climate targets. Construction companies are at varying stages of adopting and implementing low-carbon solutions, often requiring external support and guidance to set appropriate targets and integrate effective low-carbon and circular practices into their projects.
